3D Class S2 Class 03 Hard Surface Modeling Project (High res Section)

3D Class S2 Class 03 Hard Surface Modeling Project (High res Section)

This week we were assigned to make a gun. We were given the choice to choose one of the concepts provided by Nick and I ended up choosing this really cool scifi halo pistol that I thought looked really awesome. I'm not sure who the concept artist of the gun was, but I will leave a photo of it in the description. I had a lot of fun making this gun. I had a few issues with trying to do things in fusion, but it was still a lot of fun. I made the whole gun in fusion 360 and our teacher Nick said he would give us bonus points for doing the whole project in fusion 360.

The gun I choose to do is the last one in the photo below.

3D Class S2 Class 02 Resurfacing, Map Baking, And Substance Painter

3D Class S2 Class 02 Resurfacing, Map Baking, And Substance Painter

For this assignment we were tasked with taking our high res geo from fusion 360 and retopologizing it and then texturing our retopo'd geo in substance while also baking our maps. This assignment was very challenging just because I don't think I like retopology in maya even though I gave it a chance. Next time I think I might stick to 3d-coat or topogun for retopology. Maya just seemed laggy and not that fun to use. I retopo'd and had a bunch of issues with baking and I had to figure out what was going wrong. For some reason the geometry that was spit out by fusion 360 was extremley bad and it would not bake right. I had to dynamesh that geo and then desimate it and then I was able to get cleaner bakes. No idea why that was going on. Eventually I got it done, but this assignment took a really long time. I retopo'd multiple times and this assignment ended up taking me 17 + hours.

3D Class S2 Class 01 Modeling In Autodesk Fusion 360

3D Class S2 Class 01 Modeling In Autodesk Fusion 360

This week we were tasked with learning fusion 360 by following Isaac Osters knife tutorial series. It was a lot of fun and not as complicated as I would have thought it would have been. I started out by making simple sketches and then extruding them out to make geo and then I would chamfer and fillet some edges here and there to make things more believable. After finishing the knife I saved the file as an STL and then brought that into Zbrush and did some renders of that. Really excited to get started with this software.
